Sentinel LPG Leakage Detection System with Automatic Regulator

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is widely used in households and industries for its efficiency and convenience. However, the risk of gas leakage causes significant safety hazards, including potential explosions and health risks. This paper presents a comprehensive system for detecting LPG leakage to automatically shut OFF the gas supply using an Arduino-based microcontroller system, and automatically turns ON the gas regulator when the LPG level is below the threshold ppm. The system proposed in the paper incorporates an MQ-6 gas sensor, a servo motor, buzzer, IRF450N MOSFET, GSM module, exhaust fan, and other critical components that ensure the detection and instant response to a gas leak. The system continuously monitors LPG levels in the air, activates an alarm and exhaust fan, turns OFF the gas regulator if LPG raised above threshold (200 ppm) it alerts the user and automatically turns ON in lower vicinity level or below threshold without user intervention. The proposed system can detect LPG even below 50 ppm and is of more reliable and lower cost than existing systems. The system shows reliable performance in detecting and clearing LPG leak with the assistance of an exhaust fan, thus preventing possible accidents and ensuring user safety.
