A Universal Design of Flyback Converter for Isolated Gate Drive Power Supply

In the field of power electronics, compact design of isolated gate driver circuit is very essential. A Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) having higher power density is very useful solution for the same. This work proposes an overall design of a flyback converter along with design of high-frequency (HF) transformer. Considering contunuous conduction mode (CCM) of operation, the converter is controlled in closed loop using UC3842. The arrangement for UC3842, selection of MOSFET as high-frequency switcing device and magnetics for HF transformer are also proposed. Based on the designed parameters, converter is simulated to check the performance.
