Making Sensor Data Discoverable

The tremendous data produced by various platforms remains inaccessible due to different issues, and making it FAIR principles compliant is challenging. Metadata plays a critical role in achieving this, making metadata available in a standardized way improves data indexing, search, and exploration. The Spatio-Temporal Assets Catalog (STAC) based frameworks are gaining traction with the recent developments in the community. STAC is based on small and simple GeoJSONs, dropping the XML-based format. The overall STAC community is growing day by day, and there have been a lot of developments ongoing. STAC is an opensource framework, and the tools surrounding STAC are also open source allowing future developments and adaption easier for the community. There exist several extensions and plugins for STAC, making it a suitable choice for our work. Thus, we developed our work utilizing the tools and frameworks surrounding STAC, which are open-source. The key element of the research is automated extraction of metadata from the existing data source and making STAC-compatible JSONs for making the data discovery, and accessibility easier.
