The Architectures, Methods and Approaches for an Industrial Image-to-Media Inkjet Transfer System

The nowadays image quality requirements are constantly increases. It applies not only to monitors, but other image-producing devices too. Thus, the wide-format digital printing devices are currently widely used in a large field of applications – from street advertisement to industry production. Technical requirements for the printing devices are constantly increasing. The article discusses a number of technical solutions for a wide-format printing device's control system. Such systems have high technical complexity and a number of specific requirements, so there is only a small number of companies in the world offering their own solutions in this area. A detailed review of those solutions is made to find the current disadvantages and possible ways to improve technical and economical parameters of printing device's control system. The new classification of wide-format inkjet printers (based on control system architecture as a key criteria) and the singlemodule control system based on heterogeneous SOM are proposed.
