Framework for Dynamic Control and Operation of Power Electronics Interfaces

The paper introduces a dynamic control framework for power electronics (PE) interfaces, aimed at improving resource utilization, flexibility, and system reliability. The proposed strategy enables PE interfaces to respond effectively to multiple abnormalities at the point of connection (POC) while delivering multiple ancillary services from a single entity. Key features include seamless and interlaced autonomous and non-autonomous transitions with a response time of less than 10 switching cycles. Validation of the approach is demonstrated using a controller hardware-in-the-loop (CHIL) testbed, showcasing its effectiveness for grid applications. The paper also highlights the system-level benefits achievable through this strategy, emphasizing its potential to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
