From the Editor's Desk: Where Did All the Heroes Go?

E-mail is an efficient and timely tool that improves the way we communicate. Well-designed and properly managed systems I expedite communication, reduce paperwork, and automate routine office tasks, thereby increasing productivity and reducing costs. For some reason, some people forget their manners when using an online service. Furthermore, people forget that corporate e-mail access is a privilege granted by their employer. Messages and documents sent through their networks are subject to the same laws, regulations, and policies as information communicated in other written forms and formats that contain the corporate identity. Unfortunately little “e-mail training” is available in most organizations, and users are left to their own devices. Most people learn the corporate ins and outs from their peers, often picking up their habits and behaviors, both good and bad.
