Approaches to the Study of the Operation of Rotary Heat Exchangers in Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems

In the context of global climate change and increasing energy efficiency requirements, rotary heat exchangers play an important role in reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Currently, there is a very limited number of detailed experimental studies in Russia that provide high-quality tools (calculation methods, nomograms, etc.) for optimizing the design of rotary heat exchangers for ventilation and air conditioning systems. The most common methods of studying their work are based on averaging the coefficients of heat transfer and temperature pressure according to GOST 12.4.308-2016. However, such approaches do not always take into account the effects of low temperatures and high humidity, and they also do not involve detailed studies of the surface efficiency of rotary heat exchangers. In this paper, using the AF-R-350-V-L-Z installation as an example, the operation of a rotary heat recovery unit is studied on a specially designed stand that allows studying the characteristics of rotary regenerators when they are placed in climate installations. An experimental setup is proposed that makes it possible to conduct research on heat exchangers in a wide range of parameters.
