The Hypothesis of Quenching a DC Electric Arc by an Inhomogeneous Permanent Magnetic Field

The are a lot of different kinds of electrical arc extinguishing exist. Among them varieties which represent the commonality of the name is arc extinguishing by means of magnetic blowing. Nowadays the need in modern electrical apparatus for various vehicles exist in Russia. Namely planes, locomotives and electric cars. The first aim of the study is to verify the statement that the behavior of an electric arc is similar to the behavior of an electron beam in a permanent magnetic field. The second aim was to obtain a model of the behavior of electron beams in a permanent magnetic field to form a design methodology for arc extinguishing devices of vehicles. The research methodology consists in constructing a model of the behavior of an electron beam in a permanent magnetic field, providing an experiment on a mock-up with an identical magnetic field configuration, and comparing the results obtained. The obtained results were similar. Both the behavior electron beam and electrical arc, were interact with magnetic field in a similar way.
