IcedID Malware: A Comprehensive Review of Its Techniques, Impact and Countermeasures

There are many types of malwares on the internet today and the number keeps on increasing. One of the most threatful malware existing on the internet is IcedID malware. This IcedID malware is a sophisticated malware that is designed to steal sensitive information like personal data, bank account details and many more from the victim's system. This paper gives a comprehensive review over IcedID malware, its techniques, impact and countermeasures. The malware tricks the users using web injection which injects HTML or JavaScripts to exfiltrate the credentials of the user. The countermeasures for this malware are employee training, endpoint security, having secure email, multi-factor authentication and, constant monitoring of network and system logs.
