Systematic review of photovoltaic energy as an alternative energy source in business buildings

The objective of this SLR study is to determine the impact of photovoltaic systems as an energy alternative for commercial buildings. The study was structured using the PICO framework and data collection followed PRISMA guidelines to ensure a rigorous and reproducible methodology. In this regard, 25 articles were found that are related to photovoltaics as an alternative energy source. The results show this energy in commercial buildings reduces operating costs, dependence on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. It facilitates environmental certifications such as LEED, improves the quality of the electrical supply and allows access to energy in remote areas. Monocrystalline and bifacial panels maximize efficiency, while technological advances optimize safety and performance. It is concluded that photovoltaic energy transforms the energy management of commercial buildings, reducing costs, emissions and dependence on non-renewable sources. In addition, it improves the quality of supply, facilitates environmental certifications and promotes sustainability through advanced and efficient technology. It is suggested that further emphasis be placed on research and innovations such as monocrystalline and bifacial panels and automated cleaning technologies, in order to maximise energy efficiency, reduce operating costs and improve sustainability in commercial buildings.
