Power System Modeling Using Digital Twins for Smart Grid Research Applications

This paper presents suggested approaches for tack-ling digital twin (DT) related issues and simulates the real-life use of a smart grid in advancing DT technology. The forefront concept of DT has caught the attention of many power system research engineers. It has completely transformed the power industry due to recent developments in information and communication technologies (ICT). Power grids currently encounter many challenges, including remote data transmission within the grid and numerous analyses involving real-time data validation. Common smart grid research applications like power system modeling with load flow matching, stability studies in the presence of sub synchronous oscillations, and transmission line fault analysis are verified in real time in this paper. Required power system test systems are modeled in MATLAB Simulink software and validated on the real-time analysis platform Opal-RT OP4510.
