Advancement of Loan Approval System for Diverse Applicants with Machine Learning Framework

In the current financial environment, Utilization of applicant data for pre-assessment can significantly enhance the effectiveness of loan approval processes. Traditional loan approval processes sometimes rely on financial specialists which can lead to mistakes, biases, and higher operational costs, eventually compromising the quality of service (QoS) for clients. Technology can speed up, minimize risk, and improve decision-making. This is vital for economically unprivileged people who often have trouble securing loans owing to insufficient financial literacy and a lack of understanding of eligibility criteria. This research study presents a computer-based loan approval system that use machine learning (ML) algorithms to accurately forecast loan eligibility using key financial parameters. It provides applicants with insights for informed decisions while ensuring inclusivity across diverse demographics and socioeconomic backgrounds. A thorough comparison of multiple ML algorithms has been performed using publicly available loan approval dataset available at Kaggle platform. The results demonstrate that the XGBoost model significantly outperforms other machine learning models in terms of predictive accuracy, offering a robust solution for enhancing transparency and inclusivity in loan approval processes. This automated, data-driven approach enables financial institutions to make more efficient and unbiased lending decisions, ultimately improving the overall fairness and reliability of their operations.
