A Family of Dual Power Path Hybrid Converter for AC-AC Power Conversion

The traditional ac–dc–ac power conversion has two power conversion stages and low efficiency. In order to improve the system efficiency, the direct-type ac–ac chopper and two-stage ac–dc–ac converter are combined to construct a family of dual power path ac–ac hybrid converter (DPPAC) topology under the guidance of partial power conversion. Taking the basic ac–ac chopper as an example, the system architecture of its integration with two-stage ac–dc–ac topology is analyzed in detail, and the construction and derivation methods of DPPAC topologies are given. Dynamic carrier disposition pulse width modulation strategy is analyzed and proposed for the achieved ac–ac hybrid converter. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed ac–ac hybrid converter are verified through the principle analysis, simulation comparison and experimental test.
