Development of an Affordable X-Band Antenna for Robust Maritime Communication Among Fishermen

This paper presents a cost-effective X-band microstrip patch antenna (FR3 band) to enhance maritime communication for small-scale fishermen. The antenna addresses issues of high costs, limited range, and poor durability, offering a reliable solution with a range exceeding 20 km. Simulations confirm its excellent performance, with low reflection coefficients, high gain, and efficient radiation patterns. By facilitating communication between fishermen, their families, coast guards, and authorities, the antenna ensures rapid emergency response, improving safety and operational efficiency. It also reduces the psychological stress of offshore isolation, providing peace of mind to fishermen and their families, and promoting a more connected and sustainable maritime ecosystem.
