Exploring Young Students’ Experiences in IoT Skill Development Through Peer-Assisted Learning

While existing literature provides insights into the benefits of IoT and Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) individually, a gap remains in understanding how secondary school students perceive and experience IoT skill development through PAL. Using qualitative methods, this study aims to explore the experiences of secondary school students participating in a PAL program focused on IoT skill development. Five students from Mechai Bamboo School participated in the research: three from grade 11, one from grade 9, and one from grade 7, selected randomly. Thematic analysis of the data revealed that students perceived PAL as offering peer-led learning comfort, practical application confidence, collaborative problem-solving, mentor communication support, and enhanced learning retention. Understanding students’ perspectives on PAL in relation to IoT education could improve the design and implementation of similar programs in secondary schools.
