Design and Implementation of a Smart Pick and Place Robotized System

This paper presents an innovative Pick and Place Robotized System, aimed at facilitating product selection and dispensing processes in retail and pharmacy settings. The current challenges of labor-intensive and time-consuming processes are effectively addressed through the integration of a three-level rotating rack and a 3-DoF robotic arm. The integration of a barcode scanner and Time of flight (ToF) sensor facilitates precise product identification and positioning, while the user-friendly GUI provides a seamless interface for system control. During tests conducted in real-life situations, the developed prototype has demonstrated its ability to provide a reliable and cost-effective solution for optimizing order fulfilment processes. The successful operation of the robotized system can also be attributed through the detailed mechanical and electrical design as well as the calculations and simulations performed. Critical elements such as the design of bearings and shaft calculations, were carefully assessed to ensure optimal load-bearing capacity and the smooth mechanical operation of the system. Finite Element Analysis played a pivotal role, providing valuable insights and thereby validating the mechanical design against potential failure.
