Cost Analysis of a Blockchain-Based Student Certificate Management System Utilizing IPFS for Document Storage and Verification

In today's digital landscape, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of academic credentials has become essential to address issues of document forgery and secure information management. This research introduces a blockchain-based student certificate management system integrating the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) for decentralized document storage. Leveraging on the immutability characteristic of blockchain and the efficiency of storing things in IPFS is a resilient infrastructure for nontamperability and unauthorized access. A system based on Ethereum has been used to streamline and transparently interact among students, educational institutes, and employers by bypassing intermediaries in that process. The significant functions involved are decentralized control of academic credentials, automatic verification, and QR code-based verification, all promoting security and efficiency in the operations. The present research has thus shown that blockchain and IPFS technologies can protect academic credentials, overcome administrative burdens, and build a culture of trust for stakeholders.
