Development of Multipurpose Smart Desk Assistant for a Department

The project is going to be focused on the enhancement of the internal organizational communication within an academic department by developing an effective information display system supported with the Internet of Things (IoT). For the rendering, the system employs a Raspberry Pi; the front end is built with ReactJS while the back end is coded with Python Flask; data storage is done on MongoDB Cloud. It can display real time event posters, notices, timetable, the current time and even the current temperature of the place to make all feel updated and synchronized. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how IoT and human-center design can help make department communication more effective and enjoyable and because this proposal is designed for implementation at Georgia State, it could be used as a framework for the implementation of similar systems in other educational settings.
