A Study of Signal Processing Techniques in Power Quality disturbance detection

The power quality of the power system is disturbed due to many nonlinear connected loads, switching of the power electronic devices, and uncertainties of the faults. Due to disturbances of power quality, the value of rated voltage and current is not supplied to the daily used equipment. So when the power quality is disturbed, the life and efficiency of the equipment used by consumers decrease. If the power quality of the system is good, the system will be more reliable, losses will be minimized, and overall efficiency will increase. This article studies various signal processing techniques that use time-domain, frequency-domain, and time-frequency domain methods for the detection of power quality issues. Furthermore, this study discussed advanced techniques like WT, STFT, etc. Next, this article discussed a comparative analysis of the various signal processing techniques.
