Metaverse Design Trends Shaping Smart Cities Through Sentiment and Influencer Dynamics

The metaverse, blending virtual and physical realities, offers transformative potential for smart cities. This paper examines emerging design trends in the metaverse by analyzing sentiments expressed on X (Twitter) and the influence of key voices on user engagement. Through sentiment analysis and influencer metrics, this study explores how themes like augmented reality (AR), virtual spaces, and NFTs in metaverse design are received, impacting smart city concepts like smart infrastructure and urban mobility. Findings highlight influencers' roles in shaping discourse, identifying themes that gain traction via hashtags. Positive sentiments surround user experience and economic potential, while concerns arise regarding technical limitations and data security. This study provides insights into how metaverse engagement might shape smart city designs, guiding future strategies.
