THD reduction with 5-level inverter using SPWM Technique for Solar Array connected to Load

The hybrid microgrid (MG) has become more and more popular lately since it combines the advantages of renewable power sources. Since MG has more than single subgrids, connecting converters is required. Since non-linear AC loads degrade the quality of the supply voltage on the AC bus, it is promising to add an additionalharmonic correction mechanism to the interlinking converters. Since the primary aim of interlinking converters is to exchange actual and reactive power between the grids, the standard harmonic regulating strategy used for active power filters (APFs) may not be suitable for them. It is preferable for the switching frequency to be lower than the APFs when the MG’s capacity is high. One option that offers several advantages for usage of hybrid microgrid energy resource is photovoltaic (PV) energy generating. A PV with multilevel inverter (MLI) connected to load is studied in this research. By generating the AC output terminal voltagefrom multiple voltage levels, the MLI providesa few benefits, including higher power quality, lower total harmonic distortion THD content in sinusoidal current waveforms, and less strain on the switching components. This meets the load’s connection requirements and offers increased power conversion efficiency. However, to improve system performance, a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is crucial in suchlike system. To guarantee a quick dynamic reaction, a control algorithm based on maximum power point tracker has been devised for the 3-level 3-phase inverter and five level three phase inverters in this study. Simulation of the suggested system model was done in MATLAB/SIMULINK. Additionally, test results are shown to confirm that the suggested strategy is feasible.
