The use of Handheld Devices to Enhance Teaching and Learning in Nursing and Midwifery Education: Research-in-Progress Paper

The study aims to explore the integration of handheld devices in nursing and midwifery education, assessing pedagogical factors and their impact on self-regulated learning and digital application. It also examines the technological factors affecting this integration and the relationship between technological and pedagogical factors. The study also evaluates the role of handheld device integration in professional development. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) are used for this study. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is the tool to test the hypothesis. A cross-sectional survey is used to determine the best ways to integrate handheld devices into nursing education, with data collected from 335 students and 20 educators using multistage and purposive sampling strategies. The study contributes to the body of knowledge on emerging smart technology in low- and middle-income nations.
