Summary

The world is erratic; AI is erratic; and humans are erratic. We are living in a world of accelerating instability. Spotting is a technique used by dancers to fix their gaze on a specific point as they turn, allowing them to maintain their balance and keep from getting too dizzy. Throughout human civilization, storytelling has played a pivotal role in expressing ethics and value systems and passing them on from one generation to another. Fables, legends, mythology, and folklore hold immense wisdom and offer valuable insights into different cultures and perspectives. Recently, researchers in China discovered a plant that developed camouflage to protect it from getting picked by human hands. Humans' remarkable ability for self‐preservation will lead us to seek out new ways to ensure survival in the future, which may lead us to ask more existential questions about what parts of ourselves—or our external environment—we want to preserve.
