Assistive technology for currency recognition using deep learning

After demonetization, Indian bank notes have comparable physical dimensions and are harder to tell apart than they were previously. Only individuals with eyesight can make out different aspects of these notes. According to a survey done by the WHO, there are over 18 million visually impaired people in India. These people find it difficult to recognize the new currency, and with continued use, even the Braille, tiny dots, and holes in the notes vanish. Using the principles of machine learning, assistive technologies can alleviate some of their issues. The major finding helps to know the area of improvement for correct identification for visually impaired people.
