Energy-Efficient Cooperative MIMO Generalized Spatial Modulation Transmission in Wireless Sensor Networks

In wireless sensor networks (WSN), achieving energy-efficient transmission is particularly important because each node deployed in the WSN has to operate without battery replacement for a long time in a harsh environment. In this paper, a new energy-efficient cooperative multi-input multi-output generalized spatial modulation (CMIMO-GSM) transmission strategy to optimize the whole energy consumption of the WSN and reduce the inter-channel interference of MIMO transmission are proposed. With the proposed CMIMO-GSM transmission strategy, the energy consumption and transmission delay analyses of the WSN are given. Simulation results show that the bit error rate, the total energy consumption per bit, and the transmission delay of the proposed CMIMO-GSM transmission strategy outstrip the traditional MIMO transmission.
