VChain: Establishing Trust Based on Verifiable Credential Chains

Verifiable credentials (VCs) are a promising technology for establishing trust and enabling secure and privacy-preserving interactions in decentralized systems. A VC [1] is a set of tamper-evident claims and metadata associated with a De-centralized Identity (DID) that cryptographically proves who issued it. Examples include digital employee identification cards, digital birth certificates, and digital educational cer-tificates. Moreover, the subject of a DID can be virtually anything, e.g., a person, a microservice, a concept, etc.
