A Magnetic Coupling Mechanical DC Circuit Breaker

The modern DC distribution system has become a key component of the new power system, and DC circuit breakers are the key to cutting off fault currents and ensuring stable system operation. This article conducts topology research, simulation analysis, prototype development, and experimental verification of mechanical DC circuit breakers based on magnetic coupling technology. Firstly, a magnetic coupling mechanical DC circuit breaker breaking scheme is proposed, and its topology and operation principle are given. Furthermore, design the magnetic coupling current transfer module, DC fast mechanical switch, and overall structure of the prototype. Finally, a $10 \mathrm{kV} / 2 \mathrm{kA}$ DC circuit breaker was successfully developed and subjected to breaking tests. The test results showed that the mechanical DC circuit breaker meets the requirement of breaking 2000A within 2 ms.
