Optimization and Control of Photovoltaic Power Generation System Connected to the Utility Grid

This research dives into the design of a solar energy system that can generate electricity and supply it for both household appliances and the power grid. To maximize the power output from the solar panels, the system implements a special control technique called Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The MPPT technique utilizes an algorithm called Incremental Conductance to achieve this. Before the inverter stage, a boost converter is incorporated to elevate the voltage from the solar panels further. The inverter itself plays a critical role in seamlessly integrating solar energy into the power grid. It employs a complex synchronization method known as synchronous reference frame control. To thoroughly assess the system's performance under various operating conditions, the researchers modelled and simulated the entire system using MATLAB/Simulink software.
