Intelligent Sewage Monitoring System using IoT

In the recent days, appropriate efforts are being taken to enhance the cleanliness level across the country. Stinking and sewage problems create unpleasant hygienic conditions which in turn lead to transit of contiguous diseases among the public. Good man-hole management is a symbol for neat city. The damage of man-holes will lead to collisions in the road traffic. A smart sewage monitoring system is proposed in this paper which can overcome the above complications in an innovative and effective way. Moreover the system will avoid injuries caused by preventing the open man-holes in the cities. The system includes a microcontroller and a set of sensors such as gas sensor, moisture sensor and tilt sensor which will detect harmful gases, sewage overflow and opened man-holes respectively. The abnormalities in the sewage system will be intimated to the authorized persons for taking actions in the form of a web page by means of Internet of Things (IOT) module and through messages by means of GSM unit. The location of abnormality will be tracked by a GPS unit attached to design. This system will be much useful to the society and protects the life of sanitary workers.
