Enhancing Mobile Usability: Heuristics for Reducing Battery Consumption

In today’s world, mobile phones have become progressively essential and complex to our daily lives. As their functionality grows, users are not only focused on utilizing their features but are also highly anxious about battery life, which has become a common issue. This paper discovers strategies for refining battery performance through enhanced interaction with the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and actual tunings in device settings and modes. Proposed heuristics that recommend enhancing battery life during app usage without affecting the usability of mobile devices through the collected data set. Based on these visions, eight practical heuristics have been proposed to decrease battery drainage while keeping user experience (UX) friendly. These heuristics focused on user issues by exploring device, application, and energy profiles. Leading to the development of these heuristics, the present research also identifies key questions and provides clear answers. These recommendations will offer enhancements and shortcuts to enhance battery efficiency. Furthermore, a monitoring application was developed to track battery consumption across various apps, allowing us to derive data-driven visions. Future work should contain development for all OS versions and address platform and OS limits. Sensor data must be mined for detailed analysis of energy profiles using advanced tools and technologies to improve results.
