Wind-solar-storage combined hydrogen generation system based on DC collection

China’s new energy installed capacity continues to increase, but the phenomenon of abandoned wind and light is becoming more and more serious, and new energies exist in terms of intermittency, instability, and low inertia characteristics. The po wer grid is facing problems such as poor power quality, difficult scheduling, and difficult power storage. In this paper, a direct current (DC) convergence-based wind-solar storage combined hydrogen production system is proposed, which includes photovoltaic power generation, wind power generation, energy storage devices, electrolyzers, and different types of power electronic conversion units. DC pooling is chosen as the solution for new energy generation units to be connected to the system, and the topology, control strategy, and key parameters of the converters involved in the system are analyzed and designed. Under both normal turbine operation and fault removal conditions, the system can maintain constant DC bus voltage through coordinated control strategies, and improve the level of wind energy consumption by utilizing renewable energy to produce hydrogen through electrolysis. Finally, a simulation model of the combined wind energy and storage hydrogen production system is constructed by PSCAD/EMTDC to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
