Impact of a blended online and offline teaching model of psychiatric nursing on nursing students' perceptions of psychiatric disorders

Objective: To explore the impact of online and offline blended teaching mode in Psychiatric Nursing on nursing students' cognition of mental illness. Methods: Four classes of 2021 undergraduate nursing major of a medical university were randomly divided into experimental classes and control classes, the control classes were taught by traditional classroom lecture mode, and the experimental classes were constructed Learning Pass online learning platform of Psychiatric Nursing, and were taught by online-offline blended teaching mode. The level of mental illness discrimination, knowledge of mental health and mental health care, and course grades of students in the two groups were compared before and after the course. Results: The differences between students in the experimental classes and the control classes in terms of the level of mental illness discrimination and knowledge of mental health and final course grades at the end of the course were statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The online-offline blended teaching mode of Psychiatric Nursing based on the Learning Channel platform can effectively improve nursing students' knowledge of mental illness and enhance the learning effect of the course.
