Exploring the Students’ Perceptions of the Effectiveness of Using E-Learning Platforms on Learning Programming Languages (LPL) Related to Student Attitude, Performance, and Satisfaction During and Post-Covid-19 Global Crisis

With the unprecedented shift in the learning setting caused by Covid-19 global crisis, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and E-learning meeting tools emerged as popular E-learning platforms where students could learn, communicate, and interact. In this quantitative study, the researchers attempted to explore the feelings and opinions of Jordanian university students of the effectiveness of using the E-learning platforms on their Learning of Programming Languages (LPL) during and after Covid-19 global crisis with respect to the attitude (domain 3), performance (domain 4), and satisfaction (domain 5). The researchers surveyed 194 and conducted a comparative study among the age categories and between the two gender groups. The researchers found that the students overall showed a low satisfaction with E-learning platforms and a negative attitude towards them. Additionally, more students do not believe that E-platforms contributed positively to their performance. This study also revealed that gender is a differentiating factor in the students’ perceptions of the effectiveness of the E-learning platforms on the learning programming languages (LPL) with respect to the attitude and satisfaction. On the other hand, the age factor did not prove to make a significant difference on the students’ perceptions regarding any of the domains of this study.
