Experience of Congestion Analysis in Peruvian Power System Transmission Planning

In the planning of Peru’s electrical transmission system, an experience has been carried out proposing an improvement in the optimization methodology, focusing on a more effective detection of long-term congestion in the transmission network. This proposal includes a modification to the scenario simulation model, integrating contingency scenarios under the "n-1 condition" alongside the existing scenarios for demand projects, generation, weather conditions, and fuel prices used in the planning process in Peru. The implementation of this methodology has significantly enhanced the ability to detect congestion issues, allowing for the planning of a more efficient and sustainable electrical network. In the long term, this strategy not only facilitates better integration of renewable energies and reduces operational costs, but also promotes the adaptability and environmental sustainability of the Peruvian electrical system, fostering sectoral cooperation and preparing it to face future energy challenges.
