A Comprehensive Survey on Infant Biometric Recognition

Using biometric technologies to identify and track infants based on their distinct physiological traits is known as infant biometrics. Infants are particularly difficult to identify and authenticate because of their quick physical development, lack of cooperative behaviour, and extreme sensitivity to invasive operations. This study investigates novel techniques for recording and evaluating biometric characteristics unique to infants, including fingerprints, palmprints, ear shapes, and face features. ECG is a widely used tool for identifying cardiac disorders since it detects the electrical activity of the heart. As a biometric, ECG can offer an intrinsic, one-of-a-kind identification as every person's heart waveform is different. From this study we come to know that just like a adult biometric can be done through ECG in the same way an infant biometric through ECG will be feasible and accurate. Although recording and interpreting ECG data from babies presents certain difficulties but advances in signal processing and technology can make this method more and more practical.
