Measurement of Propagation Impact by Low-E Glass From Outdoor Base Stations to Indoor of a House in 800 MHz to 3.7 GHz Band

It is becoming increasingly common for houses to be constructed with high levels of insulation, and the use of Low-E glass is also becoming more prevalent. However, the utilization of Low-E glass has the unintended consequence of also blocking radio waves in addition to heat. This paper presents the results of an investigation into the propagation of radio waves in the 5G mobile communication band, from 800 MHz to 3.7 GHz, from an outdoor base station to an indoor location within a house. The study compares the performance of Low-E glass in the presence and absence of the radio waves comparing to the individual materials of the glass.
