Ultrawideband Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna for Non-Contact Biomedical Sensing Applications

This study introduces a compact ultrawideband (UWB) antipodal Vivaldi antenna designed for non-contact biomedical sensing applications. The antenna features a tapered slot structure optimized for enhanced bandwidth and gain, providing reliable impedance matching across an extensive frequency range from 3.6 GHz to 11.3 GHz. Constructed on a textile substrate with a dielectric constant of 1.6 and a loss tangent of 0.025, the design employs a 1 Oz (0.035 mm) copper patch. The antenna achieves a peak gain of 9.85 dBi, meeting the high-performance demands for precise, non-invasive bio-sensing. The compact design and broad fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 103.3% make it highly suitable for biomedical diagnostics, enabling effective biomedical sensing applications.
