Designing and Integration of Hardware and Software for a Remote Ultrasound Monitoring System

Ultrasound imaging is a commonly used diagnostic tool in medical engineering devices, offering real-time imaging, affordability, and non-invasiveness. However, the physical strain experienced by sonographers during ultrasound examinations can lead to musculoskeletal injuries and compromise image quality. Robotic ultrasound systems have emerged as a promising solution to address these ergonomic concerns. This study focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of a specially designed robotic ultrasound system in reducing hand and neck pressure on sonographers. The designed robot employs stepper motors and rods to stabilize the ultrasound probe, eliminating the need for excessive force and mitigating skeletal-muscular issues for physicians. Additionally, the system enables remote control through a user-friendly interface, reducing direct contact between doctors and patients and improving healthcare efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Integrating this technology in the medical field has significant implications for improving healthcare accessibility, reducing musculoskeletal injuries, and enhancing efficiency in ultrasound imaging.
