A Novel Static Security Analysis and Evaluation for Large Power Grid via Vector Angle Indicator

With the construction of a number of large-capacity renewable energy bases, there will be a new scene in which the power generation of renewable energy bases is collected via the local AC power grid, while all the collected power is sent out by the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) system and another power flow in bulk system may be geographical vertical to the collected renewable energy power flow. In this scenario, power flows in two different directions are presented in a small range of large power grids, which makes the results of static security analysis more complicated. This paper proposes a method to evaluate the results of static security analysis via the vector angle indicator of the cutset. The active power of the cutset in the power flow results based on the maintenance mode and full connection mode are defined as vectors respectively. The calculated vector angle indicator can be used to evaluate the difference between each maintenance mode and the basic mode, or different maintenance modes. In this paper, the vector angle indicator calculation and analysis is based on the power flow calculation results, and it also validates the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method.
