Visualization of Matching Status Between Emphasis by a Presenter and Attention by Audiences for Supporting Refinement of Presentation Slides

To present a clear and effective presentation, it is crucial to carefully refine presentation slides and the portions which a presenter emphasizes on the slides. There is also a significant impact on the audience’s comprehension due to factors such as the amount of text, presence of figures and tables, and their layout on the slide. Although slide refinement should consider audience reactions during presentation rehearsals, it is often difficult for a presenter to sufficiently grasp such reactions. This research aims to develop a system for supporting presentation-slide refinement by taking into account the matching status between the emphasis of a presenter and attention of the audience. For this paper, we propose methods for extracting the emphasis of a presenter on the basis of the analysis of the structural features of slides and extracting the attention of the audience on the basis of gaze analysis. We also describe the visualization of their matching status along with snapshots of a prototype of our support system and the accuracy and characteristics of the proposed methods on the basis of the results of experiments on extracting the emphasis of a presenter and attention of the audience using our prototype.
