Feasibility Study on Micro Hydro Power Generation from Waterfall (A Case Study of Erin-Ijesha Waterfall)

This research explored the viability of small hydropower plants (SHP) within the specific context of Nigeria, with the Erin-Ijesha waterfall in Osun State serving as the primary focal point for the investigation. The waterfall is comprised of seven distinct levels, atop which the settlement of Abake is situated. The village of Abake shares its borders with Ẹfọ̀n-Alààyè, located in Ekiti State. The Erin-Ijesha Waterfall, colloquially known as Olumirin Waterfall, is recognized as one of the most revered and visually striking natural landmarks in Nigeria. The waterfall reaches an elevation of approximately 60 meters (197 feet) and is distinguished by its seven separate cascades or tiers. Consequently, a feasibility study was conducted in the vicinity of the waterfall to assess its potential for hydroelectric power generation.
