Automated Hand Washing System with Water Recycling and Renewable Energy Integration for Developing Nations

To address the critical role of hand hygiene in preventing viral transmission, we have developed an essential [3], [4]. It helps manage both water supply and pollution, presenting a viable solution when implemented carefully. advanced automated hand washing system that adheres to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. This system incorporates state-of-the-art water recycling and renewable energy technologies to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact. Powered by a 60W solar panel, it operates effectively in areas with limited electricity. The system’s design, created using AutoCAD and controlled by an Arduino microcontroller, automates the dispensing of water and sanitizer while managing wastewater through a high-efficiency filtration reactor. This reactor recovers about 80% of clean water and achieves a purification rate of 82-83%. The 60W solar panel charges a 12V, 5A battery and simultaneously powers three ultrasonic sensors, two DC pumps, and three relays. With a total power consumption of 5.35W, approximately 54.65W remains for battery charging or other uses. Under optimal sunlight, the solar panel fully charges the battery in roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the battery supports about 11 hours of continuous operation. This setup not only conserves water and reduces pollution but also highlights the potential of renewable energy solutions for rural areas.
