Critical Review of Energy Potential of Biomass Fuel

The need to find other means of energy is paramount, especially for developing countries like Nigeria. The depletion of the ozone layer has been on the rise due to increasing demand for energy resources, especially fossil fuels which contribute to climate change. Developing countries like Nigeria have enormous biomass resource potentials. In most developing countries millions of tons of agricultural waste is generated each year and most of it goes to waste or decomposes. Many of the rural areas find it inconvenient to burn the by-products for cooking in their crude forms. The utilization and disposal of the by-products contaminate the surroundings, which in turn affects the health and well-being of the people. Similar wastes can serve as the source of a so-called clean energy - bio-fuel. Bioenergy can be produced by using biomass in a number of ways.
