Demonstration of a Highly Reliable Si-Photonics-Based In-Vehicle Optical Network (SiPhON) for Autonomous Driving

We have demonstrated a novel optical network (SiPhON) suitable for self-driving, where a master and four gateways are connected in a double ring topology. The raw 4k-camera data is transmitted through the network to an AI processor, which successfully recognizes the road signs and obstacles.
