High Gain Incoherently Pumped Discrete Raman Amplifiers for U-band Coherent Transmission Systems

We investigate high gain incoherently pumped U-band discrete Raman amplifiers, achieving up to 22.3dB net gain with HNLF and 4.2-5.8dB noise figure, and demonstrate their use in a C+L+U-band coherent transmission system using 516x24.5GBd/s DP-64/256QAM channels with a total GMI data rate of 136.2Tb/s.
