Trends in Virtual Reality Research for Post-Primary Education (2013–2024)

Virtual Reality (VR) technology has emerged as a transformative tool with the potential to revolutionise secondary education. This comprehensive review examines research trends on integrating VR in post-primary education from 2013 to 2024. It explores various aspects including research trends, methodologies, design, limitations, and suggestions for future studies within this domain. Following the guidelines set forth by Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA), data was gathered from reputable databases such as Science Direct, ERIC, JSTOR, Taylor & Francis Online, and Scopus, covering a total of thirty research papers published during this period. The insights gleaned from this review highlight trends, scholarly approaches, hindrances, and opportunities present within VR-based educational research endeavours, presenting valuable guidance for researchers aiming to advance their work in this field.
