Design of Two-Port Wideband MIMO Antenna With High Isolation for Sub-6 GHz (5G), ISM Band, and WLAN Applications

Due to immense applications in the Sub- 6 GHz, ISM band, WLAN, and LTE bands, wireless communication is vital in transmitting and receiving data between end nodes. However, there are specific challenges in transmitting and receiving the data. Different theories and models have been proposed to mitigate these challenges using the MIMO antenna system, but attaining higher isolation between antennas for the above applications is always challenging. In this paper, we design a two-port wideband antenna with enhanced isolation between the antennas to overcome interference and improve the overall throughput for the mentioned applications. The designed antenna has two ports with an operating frequency of ${1. 2 0 - 5. 0} \mathrm{~ G H z}$ and is fabricated on an FR-4 substrate having a dielectric constant of 4.3, with the dimensions $56 \times 70 \times 1.6 \mathrm{~mm}^{3}$. The gain of the designed antenna falls in the range of 2.10 to 4.45 dBi with a limited variation of 2.35 dBi for the entire operating range. Moreover, the proposed MIMO antenna design is simple to operate. The design of the proposed approach has been validated using CST Microwave Studio software.
