A CPW-Fed Tri-Band Parasitic Patch Antenna for 5G, WLAN and Satellite Applications

This work proposes a compact CPW-fed tri-band linearly polarized antenna for wireless applications, which consists of a tri-notched square slot filled with four parasitic elements. The actual size of the designed antenna is $25 \mathrm{~mm} \times 25 \mathrm{~mm} \times 1.6 \mathrm{~mm}$, with electrical dimensions of $0.27 \lambda_{0} \times 0.27 \lambda_{0} \times 0.017 \lambda_{0}$. The proposed multi-band antenna is developed and simulated on an FR-4 substrate. The two conducting stubs are connected to the radiating patch along both sides of the feed line for impedance matching. The antenna’s impedance bandwidths (IBWs) are 2.74-4.44 GHz, 5.02-5.69 GHz, and 7.234-8.346 GHz to cover the mid-band 5G $(3.2-3.5 \mathrm{GHz})$, WLAN $(5 / 5.2 / 5.5 \mathrm{GHz})$ and $\mathrm{C}(7.2-7.8 \mathrm{GHz})$ band. The antenna structure is also incredibly simple, compact and with a low profile. The proposed antenna can be used in compact and portable devices that operate in various frequency bands, such as 5G, WLAN, and C-band satellite bands.
