Development of Ku-band Heterodyne Receiver for Space applications

This paper presents the development of Spaceborne Ku-band scatterometer receiver. This scatterometer is follow-on mission of on-board scatterometer of EOS-6 satellite. Developed receiver has been characterized as per defined environmental test level specifications for space as a part of test and evaluation to ensure reliable performance. It operates at 13.515625 GHz, having low noise figure of 2.1 dB, high gain of 75 dB, 0.4 dB flatness, and output $\mathrm{P}_{1 \mathrm{~dB}}$ of $\mathbf{1 0 ~ d B m}$ over the operating temperature range of $-10^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ to $50^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$. Integrated receiver package has dimensions of $212 \times 180 \times 63(\mathrm{~mm} \times \mathrm{mm} \times mm)$, weight of 3 Kg and power consumption of 2.7 W.
