Closed-Loop Control of Dual-Sided LCC Compensated Wireless Transfer System using a Front-End Controller

The main aim of this research is to design and study the behavior of Dual Sided-LCC compensated system under open-loop (OL) condition and explain the essentiality of closed-loop (CL) control to achieve Constant Current-Constant Voltage (CC-CV) battery charging of EVs. The CL operation is performed using a front-end controller which does not require a feedback communication link. Quadrature Demodulation (QD) technique and Phase-Shifted Full Bridge Inverter (PS-FBI) are used to estimate the load parameters indirectly. The DS-LCC compensation topology has inherent CC load characteristics and a system power factor of one. By varying the phase delay angle of the PS-FBI, the inverter output voltage and the current are varied to control the battery load parameters. A 3.2KW,400V, 8A WPT system operating at 85KHz resonant frequency is designed, studied and the simulation results match the theoretical analysis.
